Pauline the Purple Octopus

I finally completed the mural I’ve been working on for Haddon Township Beautification Comity. It is part of an ongoing project to make the SOHA (South of Haddon Ave.) section of their town into the arts district. The mural is on a large potter’s planter on the corner of East Collingswood Avenue and the White Horse Pike in West Collingswood, New Jersey. If you google maps to the street view, you will see a lovely before picture.

The mural is of a giant, purple octopus named “Pauline”.

I’ve always liked the idea of the sky as water, so the bubbles seem planetary to me. One bubble that struck me as particularly homey, I added some green to. If the universe was an ocean, I’m sure creatures like Pauline would influence the stars.

Perkins Center Show

This Sunday is the reception of the Perkins Center for the Arts’ 2009 Works on Paper show in Moorestown New Jersey. I have a piece entitled “Four Months in a Coffee Shop, Horizontal” that is to be on display.  The reception starts at one PM, and goes until four.

Sketchy Dames

I try to keep my sketchbook exclusively to drawings from life, but sometimes pretty women just slip out.

The People on the Bus

I’ve always been fond of public transportation. Thank you, New Jersey Transit, for giving me the opportunity to draw the inside of one of your nice buses.
