Trip Disney World, Part 3

The most productive day of drawing was in Epcot.  I tried to get a good sketch from each country featured in Epcot’s World Showcase. Here are the last of the pages I’m posting from my recent Florida vacation.

Trip to Disney World, Part 1

This past winter my family and I spent a week in Florida. Instead of taking photographs, I purchased one of the autograph books popular in the Disney theme parks. I filled it with drawings instead of character signatures.

I’m going to devote a few days worth of blog posts to this tiny book.  Here are some select drawings.

Little Red Riding Hood

I am in the process of copying the works of Janet and Anne Grahame Johnstone. Before I move on to watercolors, I am studying some of their images in pencil. This helps me get a feel for the illustrations. The following image is from Dean’s Book of Fairy Tales, illustrated by Janet and Anne Grahame Johnstone:

Here is my graphite study of the above illustration:

Unfortunately, the two drawings are not the same. The skull is more evident in my copy. Also, the weight distribution is more natural in the original. Over the next few weeks, I hope less of my style shows through when copying their gorgeous depictions.
